  • When you see someone in the street, have you ever wondered about the story of their lives?
  • What makes a person appealing?
  • Do you know Humans of New York blog/Facebook page?
2. Look at the person in the photo and try to guess the answers in groups. Discuss why you think so.

Group A
  • What was their first date like?
  • What is the character of the boy like?
Group B
  • What are the future plans of the girl?
  • Is she satisfied with her life now?
Group C
  • How old is the girl?
  • How does she get on with her family?
Group D
  • Does the girl study or work? What?
  • Who does she live with?
3. Write a story about the person /couple in 1st person in groups. It does not necessarily have to be related to the previous questions.

 4. Read the original story individually. Check if your guesses were right in point 2. Answer the questions about the text. Write down your answers.

Group A

1. What was the problem on this date?
2. What can "I draped it across her seat" mean?
3. What can "My leg was killing me" mean?

Group B

1.Why does she find it improtant to have goals?
2. Why does she feel similar to minions?
3. What can "drop" mean in this context?

Group C

1. What can "be crazy about" mean?
2. What can "act vulgar" mean?
3. What can "be in a rush" mean?

Group D

1. What is the conflict between the girl and her boyfriend?
2. What can "material relationship" mean?
3. What can "act like" mean?

5. Check your answers with your group. Is there anything you could not agree on? Collect the unknown words you had in your vocabulary notebook.

6. Discuss the story with your group.

Group A: How can you do a first date well?
Group B: How can you find goals in your life?
Group C: Which one do you prefer: growing up quickly or slowly?
Group D: If you have a partner, can you have an intimate relationship with someone else?

7. Watch the highlighted parts of the video. Take notes. Try to understand the main points of the story.

  • Would it be possible to create a Humans of Budapest blog? Why?
  • Would it be different from Humans of New York? In what?
  • What would the humans of Budapest tell about?
8. Imagine a character you could meet in the streets of Budapest. Write down as much information about them as you can.

9. Stand up and interview as many people as you can in the room and also tell them your own story. Take notes. You can take pictures of each other's characters as well.

Find your own way of learning
